Background and objectives: Respecting the rights and the principles of urbanism calls for training and public awareness through citizenship education. The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of training citizenship rights on refraining from crime and social damages among adolescents in Bushehr. In this study, the effect of the citizenship rights education on improving women's compliance with the law and avoidance of social harms in the experimental and control groups has been investigated. The statistical population consisted of 324 high school students 104 individuals of who were in the second year of high school. 66 of them were randomly selected and randomly assigned to two experimental and control groups.
Methodology: This study is an experimental research including two experimental and control groups using pre-test and post-test. The research tools included two researcher-made questionnaires to assess the knowledge of citizenship rights (α = .78) and avoidance of crime and social pathologies (α = .75).
Findings and results: The results showed that there was a significant relationship between the variables. There were also significant differences between the experimental and control groups, in terms of the awareness of citizenship rights and refraining from crime and social pathologies; in this way, the experimental group, after learning the rights of citizenship in terms of awareness of citizenship rights and refraining from crime and social damages obtained higher scores and means.
